Westborough – The Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks football team defeated the Westborough High School Rangers by a score of 35-14 in their annual Thanksgiving Day meet up. This year, the 57th edition of this game, was played at Westborough High School.
The teams battled it out during the first half, with Algonquin scoring twice in the first quarter to jump out to an early lead. Quarterback Ryan Barry connected with Colin Robinson for an 8-yard pass to start the scoring, and then Max Cerasoli followed that up with a short run for a touchdown.
Quarterback Peter LaMountain got Westborough on the board in the second quarter as he ran the ball in himself, and then completed an 80-yard touchdown pass to Avery Andrews to tie up the game by halftime.
The second half was dominated by Algonquin, with touchdown runs by Alec Looby, Cerasoli’s second touchdown of the day, and Brett Sherman.
Many alumni of both schools were present to support their teams. At halftime, there were performances by the Westborough Marching Band, the Algonquin Regional Color Guard and the Algonquin Regional Pep Band.
