Marlborough – “From the heart” was proclaimed on this year’s poster for the 27th annual Evening of Giving, held Dec. 1 at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel. Proceeds go to Roland’s House, formerly known as the Marlborough-Hudson Homeless Shelter. In the event’s first 26 years, Evening of Giving raised over $750,000 to support the operation of this community resource.
Over 1,200 guests sampled offerings from more than 30 eateries, then joined the long line for make-your-own-sundaes from Trombetta’s Farm. For the 27th year, Chef Leon Roberge hosted his popular shrimp and raw bar, adorned with his ice sculpture. This year’s raw bar was sponsored by St. Mary’s Credit Union.
Once again, Bob Kays served as event chair with Ivette Mesmar coordinating the food. Deejays Matt Ruffing and Steve Woodard provided music.
Guests were encouraged to bring personal items such as socks and toiletries to be donated to Roland’s House. For the third year, items were also collected for the Willis House, a family shelter in Hudson.
