obit-patricia-curtinNorthborough – Patricia L. (Collins) Curtin, a longtime Northborough resident and retired school nurse, passed away in her home Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, with her husband of 50 years, Stephen W. Curtin, by her side. She was 75 years old.

Patricia was born Oct. 18, 1941 in Worcester, a daughter to the late Cornelius and Louise E. (Klouse) Collins.

Besides her husband she leaves two sons, Stephen F. Curtin and his wife Andrea of Quincy and John C. Curtin and his wife Julie of Natick, and four grandchildren whom she adored, William, Matthew, John C. Jr, and Timothy. Patricia also leaves one brother, Neil F. Collins and his wife Shirley of Onset; two sisters, Ann M. Collins and Maureen K. Collins, both of Plymouth; and several nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

She attended Notre Dame Academy, graduating in 1959. She then enrolled in the former St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in Worcester, class of 1962, prior to receiving her bachelor degree in nursing in 1965 from Boston College.

Patricia, as a registered nurse, committed her life to caring for others. She worked several years at the Providence House Nursing Home prior to working as an I.C.U. nurse in St. Vincent Hospital’s coronary care unit. She will be fondly remembered by a grateful community for the compassion shown to the children of Northborough while serving as school nurse for over 31 years at the Robert E. Melican Middle School.

Patricia and Stephen enjoyed traveling together to Aruba and wintering in Naples, Fla. When not traveling she could be found enjoying a good book. She was a member of the St. Vincent School of Nursing Alumni Association. Wherever she went, and to those lucky enough to meet her, Patricia’s infectious smile and wry sense of humor would bring joy and friendship.

A funeral Mass for Patricia will be celebrated Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 10 a.m., from the St. Rose of Lima Parish, 244 W. Main St., Northborough. She will then be laid to rest in St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge St., Worcester. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Dec. 13, from 4-7 p.m., in the Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough.

Although Patricia loved flowers, she also loved children. Please also consider donating to the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226.
