obit-phyllis-chapdelaineNorthborough – Phyllis B. (Morse) Chapdelaine, a lifelong resident of Northborough, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016. She was 92 years old. Her husband, George R. Chapdelaine, died in 2006.

She leaves two sons, Gerald Chapdelaine and his wife Rita of Englewood, Fla. and James Chapdelaine and his wife Sue of Northborough; two daughters, June Donovan and her husband Robert of Milford and Jill Lucchetti and her husband Ray of Hales Location, N.H.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, June Cooksey; her brothers, Leon and Edwin Morse; and her granddaughter, Kristen Donovan.

Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Edwin and Ethel (Winchester) Morse. She graduated from Northborough High School in 1943, and was a graduate of the former Slater Secretarial School in Worcester.

She worked as the cafeteria manager at Zeh Elementary School in Northborough for 20 years until her retirement in 1986.

An excellent athlete her entire life, she enjoyed playing all sports in her youth, as well as golf, cross country skiing, and bocce ball in her later years. She was an active member of the Westborough YMCA up until the time of her passing.

Phyllis bowled for many years in the women’s league at Sawyer’s in Northborough. She was an avid Boston Bruins fan, and enjoyed camping and participating in activities at the Northborough Senior Center.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, Dec. 21, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. Her funeral will follow at 12 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow immediately at the Howard Street Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association or Friends of the Northborough Senior Center, 119 Bearfoot Rd., Northborough, MA 01532.
