Westborough – For many years the Westborough library has provided museum passes to community members for their use. Many local organizations fund the passes each year. Friends of the Westborough Public Library (FOWPL) has sponsored 14 museum passes. Funding of the passes totals over $4,000 dollars yearly. Funding is provided through the book sales sponsored by the organization at the library and in the summer during the Farmer’s Market.

Friends of the Westborough Public Library encourages new volunteers for their programs and to serve on their executive board. The annual membership meeting will be held Wednesday, Jan. 11. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held on the third floor of the library. Elections will be held at the meeting. Elections for the positions of Board of Directors members, secretary and vice president will be held at the meeting. The mission of the Friends of the Westborough Public Library is to stimulate the use of the library and its resources; to sponsor programs designed to add to the cultural life of the community; to provide direct financial assistance by purchasing for the library special and unusual items which have not been provided for in the budget, but which the Friends deem beneficial to the library; and to support and enlarge the library’s scope in the community and to provide the library with passes to various local museums which can be loaned to library patrons.

Community members are encouraged to consider volunteering for one of the positions to help provide support to the library. For information on job descriptions, contact Judy at 508-870-1895 or [email protected].
