It was a wonderful reunion in heaven that began when they were married in Our Lady of Czestochowa, Worcester’s Polish church on November 25, 1945. Life began as married couple in Worcester and in 1979 they moved to Shrewsbury. And for over 62 years they were husband and wife… business partners…and at the end of the day each other’s best friend.
Born on September 13, 1924 in Worcester she was a daughter of Polish immigrants Victor and Eleanor (Lemanski) Zuk. Raised and educated in Worcester she was a graduate of Saint Mary’s High School. For over 30 years she and Jim worked in union with one another. Jim ran the well-known and respected Jim Palmer Landscaping and Josephine made sure the numbers worked, bills were paid, staff was insured and compensated, donations were given and hopefully enough money set aside for the rainy day, a vacation fund…and even retirement.
Josephine lived a simple life that consisted of family, church and her involvement in the Catholic Daughters of Isabella. Life was ordinary for Josie…with life’s ups and downs, heartaches and achievements, celebrations and sadness. It’s the life she was given and she lived it to its fullest.
In addition to her husband, Jim, she is predeceased by her siblings, Chester Zuk, Dorothy Toloczko and Jane Trotta.
Josephine leaves her daughter, Michelle D. Capalbo and her husband, Peter of Shrewsbury; her grandchildren, Nicole and Brian Capalbo; nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Josephine’s life by gathering for calling hours at Heald & Chiampa Funeral Directors ~ The Sumner House, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center, Tuesday, Feb. 7, from to 6-8 p.m., and again on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
