Shrewsbury – Diane P. (Pijus) Keeney, 69, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017 in St. Vincent Hospital after a long illness.
She leaves her husband of 45 years, Kenneth R. Keeney; two sons, Michael Keeney of Shrewsbury and Robert Keeney and his wife Kim of Holden; a daughter, Sharyn Thomas and her husband Walter of Shrewsbury; three sisters, Joanne Provencal of Grafton, Nancy Morley of Shrewsbury, and Patricia Pijus of Millbury; seven grandchildren, Anthony, Kendall, Mackenzie, Patrick, Samantha, Riley and Christina; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, James Pijus.
Diane was born in Worcester, daughter of Anthony J. Pijus and Pauline J. (Leroux) St. Amand. She graduated from David Hale Fanning Trade School. She enjoyed quilting, painting, and sewing. Her most cherished moments were the times she spent with her grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Diane’s family Thursday, March 2, from 4-7 p.m., in Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. Her funeral will be Friday, March 3 from the funeral home, with a funeral Mass celebrated at 12 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery of Shrewsbury.
