Catherine Kane, 101, of MarllboroughMarlborough – Catherine (Misener) Kane, 101, of Marlborough, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Marlborough Hills HealthCare, Marlborough.

Born and raised in Southborough and lived her adult life as a Marlborough resident, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mary (Ramsey) Misener and the wife of the late John Vincent “Vinnie” Kane, who died in 1978.

Known as the “Voice of Marlborough Hospital,” Catherine operated the switchboard for over 30 years. A job she truly loved.

She never missed the opportunity to travel or dine out and especially enjoyed the many bus trips with her sisters and brother and taking her chances at the slot machines and Bingo! She looked forward to summer vacations at Hampton Beach with her children and grandchildren. She was always willing to go, whenever and wherever.

She spent many hours with her son-in–law, Ron. His companionship and attentiveness to her many needs provided her with the ability to remain comfortably in her home with her family.

She is survived by her son, James V. Kane and his wife Karen of Gettysburg, Pa.; her daughter, Cathi DeCiero and her husband Ron of Marlborough; her grandchildren, Nicole Majowicz and her husband Rod, Jessica Lyle and her husband Josh, Samantha Kane and Brendan Kane; and her great-grandchildren, Travis and Colin Majowicz and Nash Lyle. She is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Bateman of Sterling, Dorothy Santella of Bunnell, Fla., Bea Ginga of Southborough, and Josephine Williams of Clinton, and her sister-in-law, Joan Misener of Southborough, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late John Misener and Mary Dion.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, March 14, from 9-10:15 a.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Anne Church, 20 Boston Rd., Southborough. Burial will follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Beach Street, Marlborough.

Her family wishes to thank the staff at Marlborough Hills for the care and kindness shown to Catherine while a resident, and request that donations be made in her name to Marlborough Hills Health Center, Activity Fund, 121 Northboro Rd., Marlborough, MA 01752.
