Marlborough – Robert V. Ferro Sr., 79, of Marlborough, died Monday, March 13, 2017 at Marlborough Hospital.
Born in Marlborough, he was the son of the late Vincent and Marian (Cunningham) Ferro and the husband of Leslie (Kaplan) Ferro of Marlborough, to whom he had been married for the past 24 years.
A machinist by trade, Bob had been employed at Lapointe Hudson Broach for many years. Following his retirement, he continued to work, training new employees until permanently retiring in 2009.
He was a quiet and gentle man. He was a true friend, always there to help whoever needed him. He loved sports supporting local teams when times were tough, but was truly a Yankees fan. An animal lover he had several cats and dogs throughout the years, but “Babe,” his ginger poodle, held a special place in his heart.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Robert V. Ferro Jr. of Worcester; his daughters, Donna Ferro and her wife Deborah Glancy of Burlington and Patricia Murphy and her husband Arthur of Tewksbury; and his grandchildren, Sean Murphy and Kori Ferro.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, March 20, from 9-11 a.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough.
