Letter to the editor: Selectman candidate Casavant has demonstrated community service

73

To the Editor,

I endorse Beth Casavant as candidate for the Board of Selectmen of Shrewsbury. Beth has acquired a great deal of experience working to improve and support many of our town’s municipal services. After moving here with her family in 2008, Beth committed herself to finding ways to serve the town.

I most admire Mrs. Casavant for her selfless volunteer work. She has served as a Town Meeting member since 2011, is secretary of the Library Board of Trustees and a member of the host committee for the “Celebration in the Park” fundraiser for our schools. She is director for a golf tournament that supports many town organizations. Beth is president of the Oak and Sherwood PTO and past president of the Parker Road and Spring Street School PTO. Her involvement in the schools earned her the 2016 Shrewsbury Education Foundation Service Award.

On a personal note, I first met Beth when her daughters were attending Spring Street School. Beth volunteered as an aide in my art classroom and was always ready to lend a helping hand to any child who needed a little extra support. As president of the PTO she made sure that the staff received both financial and volunteer support. Her organizational skills made it possible for the PTO to run smoothly and effectively.

She is dedicated, reliable and enthusiastic and I believe will work hard as a selectman. I am proud to support Beth Casavant as our next selectman.
