Marlborough/Lehigh, Fla. – John A. Moore, 94, of Marlborough and Lehigh, Fla., passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017, into the next dimension on a warm and sun shining day. He was the husband of Dorothy Hall Moore, who left before – to set things up.

Born in Lamar, Oklahoma in 1922, he was the son of the late John B. and Manuilla (Nichols) Moore.

John attended Winthrop Schools, Wentworth Institute of Technology, and UMass, and had a short stay at Suffolk University. He worked for the State of Massachusetts in the Right of Way Department for 36 years. He volunteered to join the U.S. Army in 1943 and served as a medic on Tinian Island, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa, until he had enough and came home. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, and the State Retirement Union.

He is survived by his three children, Nancy, Jean, and Jim. He was predeceased by two sons, John and Glenn, and three siblings, Billy, Ethel, and Alice. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will take place Wednesday, May 10, at 12 p.m., in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough.
