Donald Laverdure, 92, of MarlboroughMarlborough – Donald Calvin Laverdure, 92, of Woonsocket, R.I., passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017. Donald was born July 8, 1924 in Marlborough to William and Sadie (Boyd) Laverdure. After graduating high school, he proudly served his country as a combat Marine in WWII in the South Pacific.

Donald loved to entertain. Whether he was boosting the morale of his fellow Marines, playing Cupcake the Clown at a local children’s hospital, or captivating an audience, he was in his element. He met his wife, Janet, on stage where they shared the spotlight in many productions. He started Elderkind Theatre in Marlborough to provide seniors an outlet to perform. Donald won many accolades for his comedic charm, theatrical prowess and love of the cultural arts.

Donald is survived by his wife, Janet; his daughter, Donna (William) Bernard; his stepdaughters, Lauren (Bill) Eheman, Lisa (Alan) Wessell, Lynne (Pat) Drzik, and Sandra McFarland; and his stepsons, Tim Cameron, Dan (Patty) Cameron, Bruce (Christine) Cameron, Neil (Kathryn) Cameron, and Glen (Jeni) Cameron. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Bruce.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 10, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln St., Marlborough, followed by a chapel service at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, Pleasant Street, Marlborough.
