Victor J. Zona, 93, of ShrewsburyShrewsbury – Victor J. Zona, 93, of Shrewsbury, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Victor was born and raised in Shrewsbury, son of the late Vito and Antoinetta (Viscardi) Zona. He graduated in 1943 from Shrewsbury High School, where he was captain of the football, baseball and basketball teams. He then served his country proudly with the United States Navy during World War II.

Victor worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Shrewsbury for over 33 years before he retired in 1984.

He leaves his wife of 60 years, Barbara M. (Prosser) Zona; four children, Kathleen A. Buruca and her husband Rigo of Somerville, Michael V. Zona and his wife Tina of Westborough, Paul M. Zona and his wife Yvette of Minnesota, and Teresa K. Zona of Shrewsbury; three grandchildren, Maria Buruca, Nikolas and Mario Zona; a brother, Ralph Zona of Shrewsbury; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and John Zona, and a sister, Helen Grampietro.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Victor’s family Tuesday, May 16, from 8:30-10:30 a.m., in BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. His funeral Mass will follow and be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Tpke., Shrewsbury. Burial with military honors will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
