Sr. Jeannette Perreault, SSCh, of MarlboroughMarlborough – Sister Jeannette Perreault, SSCh, (Sr. Marie -Louise), died Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Marie Esther Health Center in Marlborough.

Born in Amesbury, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Marie Louise(Sevigny) Perreault.

With her sister, Lucienne, Sr. Jeannette devoted herself from an early age to help their mother care for their growing family. This included cooking, cleaning and many chores in the house, as well as caring for the animals outside. She literally became a “second mother” to her younger siblings, especially Louisa and her twin brother, Leo.

In her late teens, Jeannette felt the Lord’s call and went to the Juniorate at St. Chretienne Academy in Salem. She entered the Novitiate in Giffard, Quebec, making her first profession in August 1942. Returning to the United States, Sr. Jeannette began her long ministry cooking for her Sisters which she did with all her heart. Throughout the next 42 years she served in Rumford and Mexico, Maine, part of the time with her sister Louisa, as well as Ipswich, Loring Villa, Salem and Amesbury.

From 1984 until 1993, she devoted herself at the community’s Provincial House in Wrentham where Louisa joined her. Together, besides cooking, they did painting, carpentry and gardening. They also provided hospitality to the many Sisters coming from various convents.

In1993, Jeannette joined the community in Marlborough where she found a new ministry in crafts and sewing.

As her age increased, her health diminished and in 2011, she moved to Marie Esther Health Center where she received excellent care.

Sister is survived by her brothers and sisters, George, Louis, Pauline Deserres, Leo, Louisa Perreault and Marie Anne Gosselin, all of Amesbury, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Lionel, Roland, Henri, Eugene, Alphonse, Raymond, Mathilde Perreault, Lucienne Chatigny and Ida Bartley.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, June 23, at 10:30 a.m., at the Chapel of the St. Chretienne Retirement Residence, 197 Pleasant St., Marlborough. Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beach Street, Marlborough.
