Irene R. Swanson, 94, of HudsonHudson – Irene R. (Brissette) Swanson, 94, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2017 at home, surrounded by family.
Irene was born Dec. 9, 1922 in Hudson, and lived in Hudson for her entire life. Irene was the last of her 10 siblings.

Irene worked in the shoe industry in Hudson as a sewer. She was a stay-at-home mom, who loved to bake and sew clothes for her children. She had a great sense of humor and loved to tease those she loved! She loved to celebrate Christmas so much that she occasionally celebrated it in July!!

During the 1970s, she and her husband George F. Swanson managed and chaperoned the Hudson Royal Jades Junior Band which was the feeder corps for the highly successful Hudson Royal Jades CYO Marching Band.

For many years, Irene enjoyed attending concerts and contest of the Barbershop Harmony Society of which her husband, son and grandson were all members. She also never missed her grandsons’ hockey or baseball games!

Irene is survived by three children, Claudia and her husband Dwight Allshouse of Baltimore, Md., Janice and her husband Bob Crossman of Hudson, and Gary Swanson of Hudson, and seven grandchildren, Ken, Jared, Devin, and Jeremy Munroe, and Elizabeth, Amanda and Isaac Swanson. Irene was predeceased by her loving husband, George F. Swanson; grandson, Gabriel F. Swanson; her parents, George and Margaret (Blood McGrath) Brissette; and her brothers, Trefley, Wilrose, George, Alfred, William, Norbert, Edward, Everett, and sisters, Alice and Arline.

Services were held Sept. 23 at Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home of Hudson.
