Evangelidis named Massport’s new chair

Region – The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) Board unanimously elected Worcester County Sheriff Lew Evangelidis to head the seven-member board at the Sept. 24 monthly meeting. Evangelidis was appointed to the board by Governor Charlie Baker in April of 2015, and is taking over the chair’s seat from Worcester attorney Michael Angelini whose term has ended.

Mariner is named Apple Tree Arts creative dramatic manager

Grafton – Apple Tree Arts is starting the new school year by enriching its theatre arts program with the hire of Matt Mariner as creative dramatic manager. Mariner will direct the popular Rock Star theatre workshop and new programs including Improv to the Max and an interactive murder mystery production, “Murder for Heir” at the nonprofit community school of the arts.

Main Street Bank announces Mobile Touch ID

Marlborough – Main Street Bank has announced a new feature for its Mobile Banking application; Mobile Touch ID. This feature allows users of the Main Street Bank mobile app (MSB Mobile in the iTunes Store) to log in by using a finger print scan, available on iPhone 5 devices and higher. This enhancement allows customers to easily and securely access their Main Street Bank accounts, without having to enter in their full password every time.

Local woman pedals to division win at Mt. Washington race

Northborough – Many people have made it to the top of Mount Washington – some drive, some hike, and some take the Cog Railway. It’s the highest peak in the Northeast at 6,288 feet above sea level. On Aug. 19, Northborough resident Lisa Ludwig biked 7.6 miles as part of the Mount Washington Autoroad Bicycle Hill Climb and placed first in her age division.

Northborough sets fees for plowing and sanding private ways for the approaching winter

Northborough – Department of Public Works Director Scott Charpentier went before the Board of Selectmen Sept. 25 to present for approval the new fee schedule for plowing and sanding of private ways for the upcoming 2017-2018 winter season. The two private roads that the town maintains are Harris Avenue and Maple Lane.
