Albert A. Richard, 80, of Berlin and ShrewsburyBerlin/Shrewsbury – Albert A. Richard, 80, of Berlin and Shrewsbury passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 2, 2017 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester. Al’s family is grateful to his devoted caregivers.

Al was born Feb. 20, 1937 in Mexico, Maine. He was the youngest child of 14 to Camille and Leonie (Thibodeau) Richard. Al was a graduate of Holy Name of Jesus School, Worcester, in 1956 and served his country in the U.S. Army. In 1967, he turned his dream into a reality, Turnpike Auto Body in Shrewsbury, which is now celebrating 50 years in business.

He leaves his high school sweetheart, Constance “Connie” (Benoit) Richard after 58 years of marriage. They were fortunate to spend 14 winters in Vero Beach, Fla. He is also survived by his son, David Richard and his wife Sandra of Shrewsbury; his grandchildren, Leann Richard-Kirwin and her husband John of Shrewsbury and Erin (Richard) Vahey and her husband Matthew of Danville, N.H.; his great-grandchildren, Angelina Richard, Aiden Kirwin, and Cameron Vahey; and his siblings, Normand Richard and his wife Elaine, Joseph Richard and his wife Doris, Ernest Richard and his wife Jeanne, Gerard Richard, Irene Menard and her husband Normand, Mildred Carbonneau and her husband Homer “Chuck,” and Theresa Carbonneau. He was the father of the late Daniel Richard and the brother of the late Rene Richard, Rose Bourgea, Rita Peters, Evelyn Cormier, and Lillian Richard.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visiting hours Thursday, Oct. 5, from 4-7 p.m., at the Chiampa Funeral Home ~Sumner House~ 5 Church Rd., On the Common, Shrewsbury Center. His funeral Mass will be held Friday, Oct. 6, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
