Rose V. Mastro, 92, of ShrewsburyShrewsbury – Rose V. (Puglia) Mastro, 92, of Shrewsbury died peacefully Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017 at Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Westborough.

Rose was born in Somerville, daughter of the late Giovanni and Concetta (Maiello) Puglia. She was a longtime resident of Shrewsbury until she moved to Westborough in 2011.

She had been employed for the past 20 years as a glassware technician in the experimental research departments of UMass. Previously, Rose worked at the former Cottage Donuts, Billy’s Fruit Stand and Weepin Willies, all in Shrewsbury.

Rose loved her entire family immensely and welcomed everyone into her home, no one was a stranger to Rose.

Rose leaves behind her son, Dennis W. Mastro and his wife Andrea L. Mastro of Shrewsbury; a sister, Ester Marcotte of Methuen; a brother-in-law, Anthony Mastro and his wife Betty of Shrewsbury; sisters-in-law, Claire Mastro of Eastham, Betty Puglia of Hooksett, N.H., and Rose Puglia of Plymouth; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her former husband, William F. “Bill” Mastro; five brothers, Ugo, Umberto, Carlo, Vincent, and Lito; and a sister, Mary.

Rose’s family wishes to thank the Forbes Unit at Beaumont in Westborough who cared for Rose the past five years; you truly became Rose’s second family. Her family also wishes to thank the Salmon VNA and Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Rose in her last few days.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 11 a.m., at Saint Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Tpke., Shrewsbury. There are no calling hours. Burial will be at a later date in the family lot at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge.
