Grafton – Apple Tree Arts is seeking adults and teens 14 years and older to participate in open auditions for an interactive, murder mystery production, “Murder’s in the Heir” on Monday, Oct. 16, 6:30 p.m. at  One Grafton Common.

“We’re excited to offer this new adult theatre arts program directed by Matt Mariner, creative dramatic manager,” said Donna Blanchard, executive director. “Our dream to offer community theatre has become a reality with the past improvements we have made to the Great Hall and our current plans to improve and enhance the stage as well as the auditorium this fall,” she explained.

No preparation is necessary for the audition. Actors will participate in a fun, improvisational game and read from the script. Fifteen parts are available. If you’re unable to attend, call 508-839-4286 to schedule an audition.

The two-act mystery comedy is set at billionaire Simon Starkweather’s isolated country estate one evening where all of his heirs have gathered for a reunion. The plot and action is influenced by audience participation. Each night of the two-day show, the ending may be different based upon who the audience decides is the unseen murderer. The play is similar to the popular board game, “Clue.”

Once a week rehearsals for this entertaining show will begin Monday, Oct. 23 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.  Additional rehearsals will be added prior to the performance. Performances dates are Friday, Feb. 2 and Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. at Apple Tree Arts. A winter break is planned. Only actors cast will pay the $75 tuition.
