The fight over Friday night lights

Cartoon by Ed Turner

Westborough –There is something special, for both a team and its fans, when football is played at night. But while many enjoy the experience, for those who live close to the field, it is not always as pleasant. As Westborough voters prepare to decide at the Monday, Oct. 16 Town   Meeting if lights should be installed at Westborough High School, both sides have been sharing their opinions on the issue.

Proponents say that the night lights would allow the team to compete on a level playing field with other area high schools as well as build community and support local businesses.

Others feel that the lights would be an unwelcome burden and a distractor from the downtown district.
