Hudson – On Oct. 22, 1983, Symphony Pro Musica (SPM) debuted under the baton of Mark Churchill. Thirty-five years later, Churchill begins this anniversary season with a program titled “New World Remembrances,” featuring returning violin soloist Ayano Ninomiya playing Prokoviev’s “Violin Concerto No. 1.” The concerts also feature Rossini’s “Cinderella Overture” and Dvořák’s beloved “New World Symphony.” Performances take place Saturday, Nov. 4, at 7:30 p.m., at Hudson High School, 69 Brigham St., and Sunday, Nov. 5, at 3:30 p.m. at the Mill Pond School, 6 Olde Hickory Path, Westborough.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Ayano Ninomiya once again,” said Churchill. “She plays with intensity and subtlety, her technical command is impeccable, and she’s evocative and inspiring. Ayano is the perfect soloist to celebrate SPM’s 35th.”

Ninomiya was educated at Harvard and Julliard, has won numerous international violin competitions, and was a TEDx speaker at the University of Tokyo. She is currently a faculty member at the New England Conservatory of Music, in addition to maintaining an international performance schedule.

To commemorate the town of Westborough’s 300th anniversary, SPM presents additional selections for its Sunday concert. The Westborough High School chamber orchestra, directed by Kristin Chartier, will perform selections from Handel’s “Water Music Suite” with SPM. In addition, composer (and SPM violist) Margery Goldstein debuts a new work celebrating Westborough’s long commitment to music and music education and featuring four of Westborough’s superb music educators: SPM concertmaster Valerie Clemons, SPM violist Theresa Cleary, soprano Andrea Ehrenreich, and trumpeter Paul Tomashevsky.

Tickets are available from Eventbrite (www.eventbrite.com) or at www.symphonypromusica.org, where you can learn more about this concert and the rest of the 2017-18 season. For further information, you may also contact 978-562-0939 or [email protected].
