Marlborough – “Peace on Earth” is the theme of the 28th annual Evening of Giving to be held Thursday, Dec. 14, at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel, Route 20, Marlborough.  Tickets for more than 1,000 guests are available for those in support of the event which benefits the Marlborough-Hudson homeless shelter, Roland’s House.

Chair Bob Kays extended an invitation to clubs, organizations and the general public to attend the event which will feature a generous supply of food prepared and presented by local restaurants and hotels. The ever-popular raw bar will again be presented by Chef Leon Roberge. In addition to fabulous food, it will be an evening of sociability and entertaining music, while remembering those less fortunate people on the road to recovery.

Those attending are asked to bring personal items – soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, new socks, soap, and shampoo – for Roland’s House and the Willis Family Shelter in Hudson. The annual raffle is being held with a first prize of $3,000, second prize, $1,000 and three $500 prizes. Music will be provided by DJs Matt Ruffing and Steve Woodard.

Proceeds from the annual event, ranging from $32,000 to $40,000 each year, will be presented to the South Middlesex Opportunity Council, supervisors of the shelter that helps hundreds suffering from drug and alcohol abuse. Roland’s House provides tools and guidance that are needed by many men to rebuild their lives.

Anyone wishing to serve on the committee is welcome and may see Kays at the Prospector Bar and Grill on Lincoln Street or call Madeline Dupuis at 508-485-5705 or Jean Peters at 508-481-1833. Tickets are $30 per person, $300 for a table of 10.  Reservations may be made by calling Dupuis or Peters.
