Maurice A. Gove, 81, of WestboroughWestborough – Maurice A. Gove, 81, of Westborough, passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017 at the Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Mildred A. (Ertola) Gove, to whom he was married for 54 years.

Born in Newport, N.H., he was the son of the late Paul and Arline (Thurber) Gove. He was a graduate of Simonds High School in Bradford, N.H. and attended New England College in Henniker, N.H. During the Korean Conflict he served with the U.S. Air Force attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Maurice was employed as a tool and die maker from 1960 to 1962 at G. E. in Lynn, and then worked as a mechanical engineer for Polaroid from 1963 to 1995 when he retired.

He enjoyed building trailers for camping, genealogy, flying model helicopters and making furniture. He has been a resident of Westborough for 17 years, previously living in Framingham.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Martin Allan Gove of Worcester; one daughter, Michelle Ann Haswell and her husband, Stephen, of Sherborn; one brother, William Gove and his wife, Christine, of New Hampshire; one sister, Linda Myers and her partner, Richard Brady, of New Hampshire; sisters-in-law Ruby Carpenter and Bobby Delahunt; brother-in-law Charles Reinitz; four grandchildren, Jonathan Gove, Paul Haswell, Maggie Haswell and Maureen Haswell; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Richard Gove and brother-in-law of the late Ruth Reinitz.

His graveside committal service, with military honors, will be held Saturday, Nov. 25, at 10 a.m., in St. Luke’s Cemetery, Hopkinton Road, Westborough. There are no calling hours.
