Local soldier graduates from OSUT training
The OSUT training is a combination of Basic Combat Training and Advances Individual Training. During the 14-week training period, the private received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle marksmanship and bayonet training, chemical warfare, field training and tactical exercises, armed and unarmed combat, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, traditions and core values. As an infantryman, Pvt. Deschamps will supervise, lead or serve as a member of an infantry activity that employs individual- or crew-served weapons in support of off ensive and defensive combat operations. During his training, Pvt. Deschamps earned the expert ranking in rifle marksmanship and was awarded the blue Infantry shoulder cord, the Army Service ribbon and the National Defense Service medal. He is the son of Ann and Tim Deschamps of Southborough, and is a 2009 graduate of Algonquin Regional High School. Southborough RSS feed |
