Friends of the Northborough Library announce 2017 Service Award

Northborough – The Friends of the Northborough Library, Inc., announced that it has granted the 2017 Friends of the Northborough Library Service Award to Jennifer Lee. This award is given to a graduating high school senior in recognition of their outstanding service to the Northborough Library. 

Grafton native pursues new musical and personal chapters

Grafton – Singer, songwriter and guitarist Bob Jordan developed a lifetime of musical expertise performing in the Grafton and Worcester areas. His accomplishments are acknowledged in “A Grafton Chronicle” co-authored by Jayne Carroll Wilson and Joe Kuras, and “The Jazz Worcester Real Book” by Chet Williamson.

Saquib earns Girl Scout Gold Award

Westborough – Zenia Saqib, Westborough Girl Scout troop 30633, recently earned her Girl Scout Gold Award for her project, Music Buddies Mentorship Program.  Zenia’s project was a two-part mentorship program designed to provide guidance for beginning musicians in the Westborough High School (WHS) Fine Arts program.

Shrewsbury Woman’s Club awards scholarships

Marlborough – Solomon Pond Mall recently presented Sakura Gandolfo, of Marlborough, with a Simon Youth Foundation Scholarship for exceptional work throughout her high school career.

Assabet team’s robot throws out first pitch at Bravehearts’ game

Region – Students from the Robotics Team at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School were recently invited to Worcester Bravehearts baseball game at Holy Cross’ Fitton Field. The robot they built threw out the first pitch of the game.

Tania Walia earns Girl Scout Gold Award

Westborough – Tanya Walia recently received the Girl Scout Gold Award for her project “Express Yourself: Cards for the Community.” Tanya is a member of Westborough Troop 30633. Her project focused on teaching people in the community how to make homemade greeting cards and helping them to understand the sentimental value of a homemade card versus store-bought.

Representative Kane welcomes Shrewsbury intern to the State House

Susan E. Falzoi of Shrewsbury named as an Unsung Heroine

Shrewsbury – Susan E. Falzoi of Shrewsbury was honored as a member of the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women’s 2017 class of Unsung Heroines. Representative Hannah Kane (R-Shrewsbury) recommended Falzoi for this recognition because of her significant and meaningful contributions to Shrewsbury.

Shrewsbury family shares their love of books with others through their ‘Little Library’

Shrewsbury – The Siebels family, who live on School Street in Shrewsbury, moved to town about two years ago. Like many who are new to town, they wanted to connect with their neighbors and their new community and they found a really interesting way to achieve this while sharing their love of reading. They built their own Little Library that sits in their front lawn near the road.
