Applefest Farmers Market to be held on future town common site

Northborough – The future site of the Northborough Town Common located at 45 W. Main St. may look deserted now, but on Saturday, Sept. 16, it will be transformed to host the Applefest Farmer’s Market. The event will feature local farmers, vendors, music and raffles and will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. rain or shine.

Westborough to hold 300th anniversary ‘Grande’ Parade Sept. 10

Westborough – The town of Westborough will celebrate its 300th anniversary with a “grande’ parade on Sunday, Sept. 10.

The 2017 parade will feature 140 units representing veterans, community leaders, local organizations, businesses, community groups, civic organizations, antique vehicles, municipal vehicles, and 58 floats. It will also feature the University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching Band, who will use the event as a warm-up of sorts for their appearance in the 2018 Rose Bowl parade.

Third Overdose Awareness Vigil gathers crowd in downtown Marlborough

Marlborough – The third International Overdose Awareness Day Vigil at the Walker Building in Marlborough ended on Aug. 31 with hundreds of attendees raising memorial candles into the sky as the voice of Godsmack’s Sully Erna echoed down Main Street.

This year’s was the biggest event yet for organizer and advocate Kathy Leonard of Marlborough. Several hundred attendees came from across Central Massachusetts to hear more than an hour of speeches and a musical performance by Erna. Leonard organized the event to remember those lost to the opioid epidemic and destigmatize addiction.

Corridor Nine to present the 24th Applefest 5k Run/Walk

Northborough – All are welcome to participate in the Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce’s  24th annual Applefest 5k Run/Walk which will be held Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Marion E. Zeh School, 33 Howard St.  Registration will open at 8:30 a.m. that day with the race starting at 10 a.m. This race is perfect for walkers, joggers, first-time runners, and experienced athletes of all ages and abilities.

Westborough prepares for 300th anniversary ‘Grande’ Parade

Westborough – As the town of Westborough gets ready to celebrate its 300th anniversary with a ‘grande’ parade on Sunday, Sept. 10, the parade committee is working nonstop to finalize the last-minute details.  In a meeting held Aug. 27 for participants, the committee went over the details that they have been diligently working on over the past year to ensure the parade goes off without a hitch.

Northborough Crossing to host Back to ‘Cool’

Northborough – It is Back to “Cool” at Northborough Crossing, 9012 Shops Way, Sunday, Sept. 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with family fun throughout the center. Shoppers gearing up for the new school year will enjoy fun free activities for the kids including the Ultimate Mobile Game Truck, face painting, music, balloons, games, hula hoops, limbo stick, prizes and more.  Meet Disney’s Moana who will create customized hair barrettes.

Westborough artists to be featured throughout September at 1717 Shoppe

Westborough – A special art exhibit featuring the work of two local artists, Janet Schwartz and Dave Kaphammer, will be held at the 1717 Shoppe in Westborough starting Saturday, Sept. 2 through Friday, Sept. 29. The public is invited to the opening reception which will be held at the store’s 18 Lyman St. (Westborough Shopping Center) on Saturday, Sept. 9, from 3-5 p.m.

Dinner to benefit Southborough Community Fund Sept. 8

Southborough – Celebrate Southborough at the Southborough Community Fund (SCF) Dinner Friday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. at St. Mark’s Church Hall, 27 Main St. Cocktails and catering provided by Peppers. Proceeds will benefit the SCF.
