Winter Farmers Market in Shrewsbury Nov. 18

Shrewsbury – On Saturday, Nov. 18, the Shrewsbury Public Schools Colonial Fund will host its third annual Winter Farmers Market and Artisan Fair at Oak Middle School, 45 Oak St., from 2:30-6:30 p.m.

Country Western Night fundraiser to be held Nov. 18

Shrewsbury – A Country Western Night will be held Saturday, Nov. 18, from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Scandinavian Athletic Club Park, 438 Lake St. in Shrewsbury. Organizing the event is Vikki Crowley of Marlborough, a four-time cancer survivor. Proceeds will benefit the 20-mile Just ‘Cause 2018 Cancer Walk.

Forum to be held on tween/teens’ brain development

Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Coalition for Addiction Prevention & Education (SCAPE) will host nationally-renowned speaker and expert Dr. Ruth Potee, who will discuss brain development and teen risk taking, including alcohol and substance use Thursday, Nov. 16 at Shrewsbury High School, 64 Holden St., Shrewsbury. The event will begin with information tables in the school’s common area at 6 p.m., followed by Potee’s presentation from 7-8:30 p.m. in the school auditorium.

Shrewsbury Library presents ‘Challenger: Soaring with Christa’

Shrewsbury – Friends of the Shrewsbury Public Library met for their Annual Meeting and program Nov. 1. After electing officers and receiving committee reports, attendees were transported by historical interpreter and History at Play Theater Company’s founder, Judith Kalaora, who took them on a journey through the life of Christa McAuliffe. Kalaora’s 90-minute poignant portrayal was very well received.

Westborough Veterans Day events

Westborough – The Veterans Day memorial events in Westborough will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, beginning at 9 a.m. at VFW Post 9013 on Milk Street. All participants meet for coffee and pastries. At 9:20 a.m., the bus will depart for Minuteman Park, followed by Pine Grove Cemetery and Forbes Municipal Building. At each stop, there will be invocations and wreath-laying at the World War I, World War II, Korean, Vietnam and Gulf War memorials, followed by volleys of rifle fire and the playing of Taps by the Westborough High School Band.

Shrewsbury Rotary and High School serve up dinner and a show

Shrewsbury – Oh, what a night! On Nov. 2, an unusually warm fall evening, Shrewsbury Rotary and Shrewsbury High School teamed up to host seniors from the community for a dinner prior to the preview performance of the school’s fall play. Students have been hard at work preparing and rehearsing for this year’s play, “Almost Maine.”

Northborough community to organize benefit for resident with rare form of cancer

Northborough – For over the past year, Charlene O’Driscoll has struggled with her health. In a lot of pain, she was in and out of the hospital while doctors tried to figure out what was wrong.

Interfaith Thanksgiving Service to be held in Northborough

Northborough – All are welcome to join the Northborough Interfaith Clergy Association’s (NICA) annual Thanksgiving Service Tuesday, Nov. 21 from 7-8 p.m. This year’s interfaith service will be held at First Parish Church, 40 Church Street, Northborough.  Rev. Lynda Sutherland, pastor at First Parish, will preach at the service.

Apple Tree Arts offer chamber music concerts in Grafton

Grafton – Apple Tree Arts (ATA) has announced a collaboration with the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra (CHSO) on a series of three chamber music concerts starting with the Claflin Hill-Apple Tree Arts Collaboration concert Saturday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Great Hall, One Grafton Common, Grafton. The evening will showcase several ATA faculty members who are CHSO musicians, too. Tickets cost $19 for adults and $15 for students, seniors and veterans.
