Dinner to benefit Southborough Community Fund Sept. 8

Southborough – Celebrate Southborough at the Southborough Community Fund (SCF) Dinner Friday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. at St. Mark’s Church Hall, 27 Main St. Cocktails and catering provided by Peppers. Proceeds will benefit the SCF.

Northborough’s annual Applefest promises fun-filled weekend

Northborough – This year’s annual Applefest in Northborough promises to be an exciting event for the whole family. It showcases the true spirit of community as many organizations come together Sept. 14-17.

The fun kicks off Thursday evening with a pizza dinner and kids’ event featuring the Stupendous Mr. Magichead at the Robert E. Melican Middle School, 145 Lincoln St., beginning at 5 p.m. sponsored by Northborough Girl Scouts and Northborough Elementary Schools PTO.

It will be ‘Grande’

Westborough – The culmination of Westborough’s 300th anniversary year will be a “Grande Parade” on Sunday, Sept. 10 beginning at 1 p.m. Grand marshals for the much anticipated event will be two very familiar and well-respected women– Lydia Goldblatt and Kristine Allen. Both have served on numerous town boards, including years on the Board of Selectmen, and both have given much of their time over the years volunteering with nonprofit organizations in the town.

Assabet Valley Camera Club starts new season

Region – Assabet Valley Camera Club (AVCC), now going into its 37th year as a Hudson-based photography organization, meets the firsts and third Wednesday of the month from September through May. AVCC meetings are held in the Great Room at the Hudson Senior Center, 29 Church St., and begin at 7:30 p.m.

Marlborough Greek Festival Labor Day weekend

Marlborough – A Greek Festival will be held Labor Day weekend, Sept. 2-4, at Sts. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church, 9 Central St., Marlborough. Festival hours are noon to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and noon to 5 p.m. Monday.

Fay School to hold farmers market Saturdays beginning Sept. 9

Southborough – Fay School Farmers Market will be held Saturdays, Sept. 9 to Oct. 28, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the campus of Fay School, 23 Middle Road, Southborough. The market is open to all and will feature local produce, prepared food, and handmade goods from local vendors and Fay School faculty and staff.

Notre Dame Health Care to host educational forum

Region – “Tell me, what is it you plan to do/With your one wild and precious life?”  – The Summer Day, Mary Oliver

Those lines were part of the inspiration behind Life After the Diagnosis: Expert Advice on Living Well with Serious Illness for Patients and Caregivers.  The book and its author, Steven Pantilat, MD, set out to help people navigate the journey after a diagnosis. Notre Dame Health Care will be hosting an event with Dr. Pantilat to empower individuals and caregivers.
