State Trooper Ken Hanchett ties a ribbon honoring police officers at City Hall in Marlborough. The ribbon tying was part of the Cover the City Blue campaign by the Wives of State Police Officers organization and was planned by Hanchett's wife, Molly Hanchet.

GFD calls on the community to help them go above and beyond for people and pets

Grafton – When someone performs a job well, it’s impressive. When a person goes above and beyond the call of duty, it’s admirable. But when that call of duty that’s surpassed involves courage, selflessness and determination, it’s something to be treasured. In the case of the Grafton Fire Department, an organization of men and women who must routinely face danger while protecting the community, treasuring its noble desire to go above and beyond is just the beginning. It needs the support of the community as well.

Northborough selectmen appoint new police sergeant

Northborough – Police Chief William Lyver introduced Jeremy Trefrey at the Aug. 15 Board of Selectmen’s meeting for a permanent appointment to police sergeant. The position was left vacant by Joseph Galvin who was appointed lieutenant in July. Trefrey has most recently held the position of juvenile detective and liaison officer at the Algonquin Regional High School.
