Ashland: Doc Film & Discussion Series presents “Lifestyle Medicine”

June 12, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Ashland – The Ashland Documentary Film & Discussion Series will present the film “Lifestyle Medicine with John McDougall, M.D.” Thursday, June 12, from 7-9 p.m., in the Community Room of the Ashland Library, 66 Front St., Ashland. Admission is free, and viewers are invited to stay for discussion.

Dr. John McDougall is a board-certified internist. He recommends lifestyle changes as the best way to get and stay healthy. For 40 years, throughout all the diet-wars and fads, he has stood fast in recommending a plant-based, whole-foods diet and avoiding meat and dairy.

In this talk, McDougall summarizes why mainstream medicine's approach to treating common conditions, such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and common diseases such as heart disease and cancer, treat the symptoms and not the cause. He counsels that the best way to avoid those and other conditions and disease is to make the lifestyle changes he recommends.

The film series is sponsored by the Friends of the Ashland Library. This showing is co-sponsored by the Ashland Farmers Market. All points of view are welcomed. For more information, call the library at 508-881-0134, or visit www.friendsoftheapl.com.
