Marlborough: Free classical guitar and violin concert at Marlborough Library« Back to Events
Marlborough – A classical guitar and violin concert will be held Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Marlborough Public Library, 35 West Main St., in the Bigelow Auditorium. The concert will feature Duo Divertimento with Sheila Reid, violinist, and Carl Kamp, classical guitarist. Admission to the concert is free and the public is welcome.
This is the second concert in the 2013-14 Yacyshyn Concert Series organized by the Friends of the Marlborough Public Library, now in its 44th season.
Duo Divertimento will give a spirited performance of music from Shakespeare’s time and will feature selections by Vivaldi, Bach, and Handel, as well as classical Italian and Spanish composers.
Sheila Reid, violinist, is a Brandeis University graduate, and has a Masters from Harvard University. A longtime member of the Worcester Symphony Orchestra, she has appeared in many area orchestras, often as concertmaster. Reid has performed in Europe and Russia.
Carl Kamp, classical guitarist, is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts. Solo performances include Clark University, College of the Holy Cross, University of Massachusetts, Worcester Art Museum, WICN-FM, WCUW Channel 13, Higgins Armory Museum, and First Night Worcester. In addition to the Duo Divertimento, his ensembles include two guitars, guitar and mandolin, as well as flute and guitar. Kamp has also played in Europe and South America.
