Hastings Elementary School's festival features raffles, cupcake contest

February 8, 2014 @ 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Westborough – Hastings Elementary School will hold its seventh annual Winter Festival Saturday, Feb. 8, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. The Hastings Parent Group is sponsoring a visit by the 2013 Red Sox World Series trophy Monday, Feb. 17, and will be raffling off a chance to be one of the first five families in line at the festival.

The festival will also feature games, crafts, food, a silent auction, magic show, and basket and 50/50 raffles.

One of the highlights of the festival is the cupcake baking competition. The 2014 theme is the Sochi Winter Olympics. Entrants should bring 12 homemade cupcakes to the school along with a $10 entry fee and ingredients list (no nuts) by noon Friday, Feb. 7. Entries will be judged on appearance, theme, and taste. Winners will be announced at the festival and presented with a medal and an Amazon gift card.

Entrance to the festival is $5 per person or $20 maximum per family. Money raised at the festival event will go toward enrichment programs such as field trips, guest speakers, and additional tools for Hastings students and staff.

The school is located at 111 E. Main St., Westborough. For more information, contact Shannon Vallee at shannonvallee@gmail.com or Vanessa Aires at Vaires33@yahoo.com.
