Hudson: Local author to speak on U.S. Coast Guard history

Hudson – Hudson resident Michael Walling, author of four books primarily on Naval history, will speak on his first book, “Bloodstained Sea: the U.S. Coast Guard in the Battle of the Atlantic 1941-1944,” at the meeting of the Hudson Historical Society Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 7:30 p.m. at First Federated Church Hall, 200 Central St.

The book earned Walling the 2005 Samuel Eliot Morison award for Naval Literature. The author spent six years as a commissioned officer and senior petty officer in the U.S. Coast Guard and has spent many years collecting stories from veterans of all wars.

The public is invited to attend and refreshments will be served.
