Hudson: Scouting for Food bag pick-up

November 2, 2013

Saturday, Nov. 2 is the Annual Scouting for Food Drive. The Hudson Scouts of the Troops 2, 77, Venture Crew 21 and the Hudson Girls Scouts will be picking up donated food left out for the food drive. Please have bags outside the house by 9 a.m. The donated food will be given to the Hudson Food Pantry.

The weekend before the food drive, the local Cub Scouts and Girls Scouts will be delivering the scouting for food new door hangers to residents of Hudson. If you do not receive a door hanger, please leave a bag of food by the door or by the mailbox. Please mark the bag “Food Drive” and the scouts will pick up the food Nov. 2.? Bags of donated food should be placed in a location visible from the road. Scouts will not enter a building to pick up food.

The Hudson Food Pantry is in need of the following items:

Canned soups, canned meats, canned vegetables, canned pasta, peanut butter, jelly, rice, stew, baked beans, Jell-O products, canned fruit, baby food, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, paper products and personal care products. The Food Pantry is unable to accept homemade food and expired foods.

The team work of the local scouts of Hudson and the generosity of the Hudson residents, collected 9,153 pounds of food last year. This year, they are hoping to break that record.

If you have any questions concerning the Scouting for Food Drive, call Joan Wordell, Hudson Scouting for Food coordinator, at 508-283-0412.
