Oct. 20, from 2 to 4 p.m., Discovering New England Stone Walls with Kevin Gardner will be presented at Hudson Public Library, 3 Washington St. The informal talk covers a few of the main topics of his book about New England stone walls. Touching on history, technique, stylistic development, and aesthetics as well as other topics, Gardner will explain how and why New England came to acquire its thousands of miles of stone walls while building a miniature wall or walls of his own on a table using tiny stones from a five-gallon bucket. A generous question-and-answer period, during which listeners are encouraged to bring up specific problems or projects on their own properties, will follow. To find out more, contact Nancy DelVecchio at 978-568-9644 or ndelvecc@vwmars.org.
