Region: OARS to hold water chestnut pull

July 20, 2013

OARS is putting out a call for volunteers to help eradicate water chestnuts from local rivers. Join OARS for a fun day on the Assabet, Sudbury, and Concord Rivers (exact locations to be determined). Using canoes, volunteers will pull water chestnuts out of the water by hand and then dispose of them at a designated shore site. OARS will also need some people helping on shore. Schedule: July 20, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.; July 30, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and Aug. 3, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be a limited number of boats available on a first-come, first-serve basis, so sign up early! To register, email office@oars3rivers.org or call 978-369-3956. Visit www.oars.3rivers.org for more details.
