Join the Westborough Public Library, 35 West Main St., for a program on Seashells and Secrets Feb. 24, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Lifelong beachcomber, biology teacher, and natural history author Dr. Scott Shumway will explore the secret lives of the mollusks, whose shells wash up on our shores. Learn about the clam that was used for wampum, the sex-changing snail, clams that ride the waves, jet propulsion in scallops, and snails that drill holes in clam shells. You’re encouraged to bring shells from your collection and try to stump the professor. All ages are welcome. Scott Shumway is Professor of Biology at Wheaton College and author of Naturalist’s Guide to the Atlantic Seashore. A book signing to follow. Sponsored by the Westborough Community Land Trust.
