Diwali or Deepavali is also known as the Festival of Lights. It is celebrated in India and in places where there are a number of people of Indian descent. A celebration to commemorate Diwali will be held Oct. 27, at 3 p.m., at Shrewsbury Public Library, 609 Main St. There will be classical Indian dance performances by individuals and by groups, activities for children, and snacks for everyone. It is a drop-in program for the whole family to enjoy. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. To find out more, call 508-841-8533.
