Shrewsbury: Foreign Film Festival Begins

The Friends of the Shrewsbury Public Library, 609 Main St., have announced that the Third Annual Foreign Film Festival will begin with The Picture Bride. In this 1994 Japanese film, a young Japanese woman tries to leave behind her unhappy past by traveling to Hawaii in the early 1900s as a picture bride. The film is rated PG and is 110 minutes long. Film showings will also be held Feb. 12 (Mongol), Feb. 19 (Wasabi) and Feb. 26 (Triumph of the Will). All the films will be shown at 2 p.m. Popcorn will be provided, but please bring your own beverage. For more information, call the library at 508-842-0081.
