Shrewsbury: Guitar music concert at Library« Back to Events
Shrewsbury Public Library, 609 Main St., will host internationally-known guitarist Peter Griggs in “500 years of Music for Guitar” Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. Griggs will explore the music of the classical guitar from the Renaissance to the Contemporary, including works by Gaspar Sanz, Johann Sebastian Bach, Bartolome Calatuyud, Django Rheinhardt and Thelonious Monk, as well as Flamenco, Brazilian music, and several of Griggs’ own compositions. He will also discuss the evolution of this iconic American instrument from its origins in medieval Spain to its worldwide popularity in the 21st century. There is something for listeners of all tastes on this wide-ranging program. This event is free to the public, thanks to funding from the Friends of the Shrewsbury Public Library.
