Have you ever wondered what all those stops on the organ mean? In fact, what is a stop anyway? How does a pipe organ work and why are there so many pipes and keyboards? March 23, from 9 to 10 a.m., organist and pianist Malcolm Halliday will offer a free Pipe Organ demonstration in the Meeting House at the First Congregational Church of Shrewsbury, 19 Church Rd. Called “Welcome to the Organ,” this event is for anyone who would like to learn how a pipe organ works. It is open to all people in the general community, and will be particularly geared toward children grade 5 and older, as well as adults of any age. Please call 508-845-7286 or email the office at office@fccsm.org if you are interested in participating.
