South Grafton: American Red Cross blood drive

December 24, 2013

South Grafton – An American Red Cross blood drive will be held Tuesday, Dec. 24, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. (special holiday hours), at the Polish National Home, 7 Main St., South Grafton. All donors will receive a complimentary Wachusett Mountain ski pass and a free Red Cross long-sleeve T-shirt.

This blood drive is open to the public, and residents from all surrounding towns are invited to participate. Appointments are preferred, but walk-in donors are also welcome.?? The Red Cross is hoping to collect at least 67 pints of blood at this drive. Donors are needed to help maintain a safe and available blood supply over the holiday season.

The Red Cross has to collect 3,000 pints of blood everyday to meet the basic needs of patients throughout New England. In the United States, blood is needed for transfusions every two seconds. This blood can only come from caring volunteer donors. All blood types are needed, blood type O is the universal donor and always in great need.

The Red Cross requires a positive ID before donating. You must be at least 17 years old (16 years with a signed parental consent form). You can donate blood every 56 days.

Call 800-733-2767 or visit www.redcrossblood.org to schedule an appointment to donate.
