Southborough: Heritage Chorale gives thanks through concert

November 24, 2013

| $20

Southborough – The Heritage Chorale will be performing the first concert of its 77th season, “Masterpieces of Bach and Handel,” Sunday, Nov. 24, at 4 p.m., at St. Mark's School, 25 Marlboro Rd. Musical Director John Finney will be conducting the group, with full orchestra and professional soloists.

Handel's great oratorio “Messiah” is one of the most popular choral works of all time. The group will be singing Part III, including the “Thanks Be to God” movement featuring the full chorus, which will be a perfect beginning to the 2013 Thanksgiving week.

The concert will also feature Bach's “Missa Brevis in G Major” that is rarely performed. It is a joyous and celebratory work, with beautiful choruses, exquisite solo arias, and a rich and vibrant orchestral accompaniment. It is based on the famous Bach Chorale, “Nun Danket Alle Gott” (“Now Thank We All Our God”).

Tickets are $20 for general admission, $15 for seniors and students, and free for children ages 6 – 12.

The chorale is supported by its season sponsor, the Mary Ann Morse Healthcare Corp. Information about the concert may be found at www.heritagechorale.org or by calling 508-270-3999.
