Southborough: ‘Roaring Twenties’ program at Senior Center« Back to Events
Oct. 10, “Flivvers, Flappers and Fitzgerald: the Roaring Twenties Session 1” will be held at the Southborough Senior Center, 9 Cordaville Rd. With the end of the Great War of 1914-1918, Americans rejected membership in the League of Nations and chose instead to embrace Harding’s election message to return to “normalcy.” By “normalcy” Harding advised that America must minimize its role in world affairs and that its citizens enjoy the good life at home. What followed was the Red Scare, a crackdown on immigration and a bloody empire built on alcohol. Join Professor Gary Hylander for the beginning of this informative series. Session 2 is Oct. 24. A luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m., followed by the program at 12 p.m. Cost: $6 for Friends members and $10 for non-members. Call 508-229-4453 or stop by the senior center to register.
