Westborough: Biggest, cleanest yard sale to benefit young musicians

September 14, 2013

Westborough – The Westborough Community Chorus will hold its annual yard sale Saturday, Sept. 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the “Harvey School Building,” 20 Phillips St., Westborough.

Throughout the spring and summer, members of the Westborough Community Chorus accept yard sale “treasures” from chorus members, friends, and the general public. From the mundane to the very unusual, all donated items are cleaned, repaired if needed, tested for proper working order, then categorized and boxed to be stored until September. Thousands of items are then sold at what is widely known as the “cleanest and biggest yard sale in town.”

Shoppers will find every category imaginable, appliances, electronics, housewares, antiques and fine items, collectibles, furniture, jewelry, gardening equipment, and books. Volunteers will also be selling delicious home-baked items.

Proceeds from the sale help support a scholarship fund that in 2012 was able to provide 12 scholarships for music lessons to students from grades 6-12. The recipients are announced at the Westborough Community Chorus Holiday Show in early December, and each student performs before the audience during the Chorus” Spring Show in May.
