Westborough: Fireflies Africa United Day

April 11, 2013

April 11, the teachers of the sixth grade Fireflies team at Mill Pond School, 6 Olde Hickory Path, Westborough, cordially invites the community to attend their sixth annual Africa United Day, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., in which the students will present their final products in a showcase format. The students were required to choose an African country and research information about their country in all discipline areas. The final presentations will include the information about each country, including a drawn map showing the geography, a poster creating awareness to important current issues, important historical events, a field guide of the wildlife, economic graphs comparing the U.S. with their African country, samples of a common food, a cultural folktale written by each student, and a speech, written and recited by each student, about an influential person from the country.
