Westborough: Forum on preventing gun violence« Back to Events
Westborough – Members of the Social Action Committee of Congregation B’nai Shalom, in cooperation with the Greater Worcester Coalition against Gun Violence, will present a forum on preventing gun violence Sunday, Oct. 13, from 3-5 p.m. at Congregation B’nai Shalom, 117 E. Main St.
The forum will provide a source of sound, research-based information about gun violence as well as an opportunity for thoughtful discussion about what individuals and communities can do to address the problem.
The event will include a panel discussion and Q&A with David Hemenway, Ph.D., professor of health policy, director of the Harvard Injury Control Research Center, Harvard School of Public Health, and author of two widely read books on violence prevention; Michael P. Hirsh, MD, FACS, FAAP, surgeon-in-chief, UMASS Memorial Children’s Medical Center, acting commissioner of the Worcester Department of Public Health, president of Worcester District Medical Society, and founder of the “Goods for Guns” buyback program in Worcester; and Congressman Jim McGovern, D- MA 2nd District.
Admission is free. Adults and mature youth are cordially invited.
