Westborough: In Your Shoes to host “Casino Night” fundraiser

March 21, 2014

| $25

Westborough – Since 2008, In Your Shoes (IYS) has been helping Westborough residents in need. The nonprofit organization provides emergency funds to any person who resides or works in Westborough.

“Grants can range from $25-$50, up to $500 based on need,” IYS Vice President Marjet Schoen said. “We help single moms, those who are out of work, or anyone that may need emergency help.”

The group also awards an annual scholarship to a Westborough senior who demonstrates a commitment to giving back to the community and volunteer at numerous community functions.

“A lot of times people think that Westborough and town like ours don's need much,” Schoen said. “But in these towns, there is always someone who needs help. We are here to provide it.”

To raise money for grants and scholarships, IYS holds fundraisers. From 2009 to 2001 they organized the Polar Plunge in Lake Chauncy.

This year, IYS will be hosting a new fundraising event, Casino Night, Friday, March 21, from 7:30 – 10:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 17 Willow St. The event will feature blackjack, poker, bingo and roulette.

Tickets will be $25 which can be bought at the door or in advance by contacting either Sherry at 508-366-9616, Marjet at 508-836-4038, or Judy at 508-366-0881. All proceeds will go into the IYS general fund. Tickets include entrance to the event and gambling chips with the option to buy more chips as needed.
