Westborough: Library presents “Who's Tracking You Online?”

October 16, 2013

| Free

Oct. 16, the Westborough Public Library, 55 West Main St., presents “Who's Tracking You Online? The Quiet Big Data Revolution” by Greg Page, at 7 p.m.

Every mouse click, every keystroke, and every tablet or smartphone selection that we make helps data collectors paint a picture of who we are. The digital footprints that people create with this data trail can be useful to everyone from retailers to health care professionals to the government. During this interactive presentation, Greg will discuss the positive, negative, and uncertain implications of the era of Big Data. He will also discuss ways that individual web users can minimize their online footprint.

The program is free and open to the public, and is being offered as part of the library's new campaign, Discovering Your Next Chapter: Lifelong Learning at the Westborough Library. It is being brought to you with federal funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

For more information, call the library at 508-366-3050.
