Westborough: ‘Sounds of Heaven’ service with Irish harp, quiet reflections« Back to Events
Westborough – The Congregational Church of Westborough, 57 West Main St., will feature Christmas lullabies played on an Irish harp Thursday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m.
Harpist Thom Dutton will play Christmas lullabies from Norway, France, Russia, Croatia, Ireland, Poland, Italy, and Spain. Some carols will be familiar, such as “Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella” from France, while others such as “The First Hour of That Night” from Croatia, are unfamiliar. Eight gentle carols will be played, with the occasional story interspersed. Leo Tolstoy’s “The Cobbler’s Guest” will be read, along with “A Visit to the Manger” by Pat Ingoldsby and “This Holy Night” by Selma Lagerlof.
The service is meant to be one of quiet reflection during the busy Christmas season. Rev. Elaine Gaetani will lead the prayer service. All are welcome and the service is free.
