The St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra will perform for the opening night of the Worcester Music Festival at Mechanics Hall in Worcester. The program will include Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No.1, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.5 in F-Minor, and Glinka’s overture to “Ruslan and Ludmila.” A free pre-concert talk will be given at 7 p.m. by Steven Ledbetter, former annotator for the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
